The REAL breakfast of champions!

Oatmeal, cinnamon, apple sauce and fruit. Here is why this delicious dish has been favored for generations... not only delicious but packed with healthful benefits.

  1. Oatmeal = Research shows, eating oats is linked to an average 7% drop in bad (LDL) cholesterol. The fiber in oatmeal also helps you feel full and eat less later on during the day. It helps ease constipation and helps control blood sugar. TIP: Some packets of instant oatmeal are loaded with sugar, as much as 8 teaspoons per serving! Opt for the plain rolled oats or steel-cut oats. (WebMD)
  2. Cinnamon = Lab studies have found that cinnamon may reduce inflammation, have antioxidants, and fights bacteria. Some studies suggest it may help lower blood sugar. (WebMD)
  3. Apple Sauce = An excellent source of dietary fiber and sweetness to enhance the overall flavor of the plain rolled or steel-cut oats.
  4. Fruit = Offers plenty of vital vitamins and minerals.

Feeling task oriented today... and so, isolated ingredients for dinner!

Got so much marked off my To Do List today! Feeling empowered so it's no surprise my cooking reflected the same task oriented approach with isolated ingredients. Fresh red and purple potatoes mashed with skins, a little salt, pepper, whole milk and butter; delicious ground turkey with onions, carrots and tomato sauce; blended Cheddar and Jack cheese slices; and diced Roma tomatoes. Yum!

Balsamic Mint Salad with String Cheese & Roma Tomatoes

Craving change? Reinvent the typical to feed your need for adventure. Here is a fresh take on a Caprese salad that will nourish your mood in no time!

Often there is a lack of creativity on the salad front.  Simple fix: Change out primary ingredients while maintaining the general integrity of the recipe. Try fresh mint leaves instead of basil, pulled string cheese instead of Mozzarella cheese, Roma tomatoes instead of the larger tomatoes, then drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sprinkle with salt, and finish with cracked white and black pepper. Serve with pita chips for that crunch balance. Flavor is through the roof! The perfect dish to inspire the senses (via the Mint leaves) and the palette (via the unique recipe).

Tired of the traditional breakfasts. Strapped for time but I don't want to compromise on taste, flavor or the overall experience. Nothing worse than inhaling your food or eating just anything because it is time to eat or you are time-challenged. This breakfast took literally 5 minutes to make (if you toast and cook your eggs simultaneously). Enjoy a TOASTED MULTI-GRAIN BREAD, 1/3 LESS FAT CREAM CHEESE SPREAD, SLIGHTLY OVER-OVER EASY EGGS, VERDE SALSA FOR SPICY NOTES, ROMA TOMATOES, PERSIAN CUCUMBERS, AND LEMON PEPPER FOR A SPRING IN THE TASTE. Easy, healthy and delicious. Never compromise - in life, or with your food.
